3 Paraphrasing Styles with Examples to Learn it Better

Paraphrasing is to rewrite the content or a write-up differently without disturbing its meaning. While paraphrasing, you should be very particular about the word that you are choosing to replace the original one. Paraphrasing also involves the beautification of the content.
Here are 3 examples of paraphrasing that will help you understand the concept:

3 Best Paraphrasing Styles with Examples

Example 1:
In The Sopranos, the mob is besieged as much by inner infidelity as it is by the federal government. Early in the series, the greatest threat to Tony's Family is his own biological family. One of his closest associates turns witness for the FBI, his mother colludes with his uncle to contract a hit on Tony, and his kids click through websites that track the federal crackdown in Tony's gangland. (taken from Journal of Popular Culture37.4 2004 by Ingrid Field Walker)
Paraphrased:-
In the first part of ‘The Sopranos’, a mobster Tony Sopranos is threatened by this own family than that of a federal government agent. The member who is closest to him becomes an FBI informant, while his mother and uncle plan a conspiracy to kill him. His children are surfing the internet to get through the information about his informants and his activities.
This is one example of paraphrasing.
There are three types of paraphrasing. Let's discuss them:-
1. Acknowledging Paraphrasing-
In this paraphrasing, verbal communication is involved. It would be best if you express verbally that you have understood the concept of the text that you have to paraphrase. You can use the feel, expression and touch of the context for getting the exact message of the content across to the readers.
2. Organising Paraphrasing-
In such type of paraphrasing, the original or the underlying tone is transformed in a cognitive tone. You need to organise the content in this type of paraphrasing. Having said that, it is essential to understand the aspect that you need to organise in the content.
3. Abstract paraphrasing-
In this type of paraphrasing, you need to understand the plot of the content and have to rephrase it in a completely new version. The only thing that you need to remember is that the meaning should not be distorted.
These were the three types of paraphrasing that can be used while paraphrasing.
To explain each of the above styles in brief, here are some examples with a content that is paraphrased:-
Example:
“I don’t see how I can prepare all of my kids to meet the new state standards. They
have poor skills and poor attitudes. And we’re expected to teach them academic
and social skills!”
In the style of Acknowledge Paraphrasing:
I am helpless to prepare a plan to provide academic and social skills to the students. They have inadequate skills and poor attitudes.
In the style of Organizing Paraphrasing-
I am helpless to provide a plan to teach student academics and social skills for two reasons. They are:
1. Poor Attitude
2. Poor Skills
In the style of Abstract Paraphrasing:
I will not be able to provide the academic and social skills to the kids because of their poor attitude and abilities.
These are the three examples to paraphrase in these three styles. If you still have any problem, then you can opt to use paraphrasing or essay rewriter tools that are available online. With the help of reviews and rating, you can find an authentic machine. But, do not believe in what the tools churn out blindly. After the tool generates paraphrased content, go through it to see if the intent of the text has been maintained to the T.
Hopefully, this blog was helpful for you. All the best with your paraphrasing task!
